THE MARVELS OF GRACE SEASON III (Episode 7) FACT ABOUT LOVE

THE MARVELS OF GRACE
SEASON III (Episode 7)
FACT ABOUT LOVE
With the help of God, I want to share today, the major fact about love.

Love is Divine

So many scholars and philosophers have given various meanings to the word LOVE, but the only definition that I have come to recognize about love is that: GOD is love. This is being reflected in the account of creation, which so many if not almost all of us are aware of, in that the Creator put everything in place all for the sustenance of every of His creations. So, it can be affirmed that the source of TRUE LOVE is and can only be found in GOD. Any other source for love is an outright fake. What am I insinuating here? Many might have believed that the source of love can be found in money, social class, facial appearance and ethnic background and so on. It’s high time to point out that that concept about love is totally wrong. TRUE LOVE is not dependent on all those criteria albeit they are also important and sometimes necessary, but they can only be secondary to love.

So my friend, if love is from God then there is a way God wants us to love – after all we were all made in His image and likeness. Therefore I will like to point it out that God want us to love as HE loves – unconditionally. All have sinned and fallen short of His glory yet He keeps loving us and patiently waiting for sinners to repent and turn from their sinful ways. What a way to love! God’s kind of love is not selfish; It places the priorities and satisfaction of others above self; It does not envy; It is not evil, it does not boast; it keeps no record of wrongs; it is not easily angered; it always forgives. It’s the perfect love. That’s why they call it AGAPE LOVE – the Divine Love.

So my friend, how do you show love? Are you not selfish? Because if you are in a pre - marital relationship and you want to love your spouse as God wants, you would not even think about gratifying your selfish sexual desires at the expense of your spouse. You would be willing to be the giver and not always the receiver in that relationship. You would be willing to let aside your comfort for the satisfaction of your spouse. You would not be envious of your successful friends and their successes. You would not keep malice. You would not deprive another of his or her rights. There are so many things to do if we want to love as God loves but time and space would not permit me to share them all for now.

Therefore, the baseline of this article is this; we need to start showing the God’s kind of love to our parents, to our spouses, to our bosses, colleagues and subordinates if we really want our world to change for the better. The reason why evils like armed robbery, rape, murder and the likes happen at an alarming rate today is that the God’s kind of love is lacking in the lives of so many people.
We all need grace to love as GOD loves for to not love as God loves is to not love at all…

Peace!
